Copy contract size and price increment from the intended BTCUSD, BTC/USD or Bitcoin symbol. Similar labels can represent different contract units, volume grids, trading hours and client permissions.

Entered

Use the price increment your broker calls one pip, point or tick; no universal convention is assumed.

Zero is accepted for a value-only check.

Enter BTC or product contract units per entered quantity unit. Verify the exact venue or server product.

Account-currency units per 1 quote-currency unit; no live FX rate is fetched.

The browser performs deterministic arithmetic only. It does not contact a broker, exchange, price feed, trading account, margin service or order ticket.

Specification boundary: BTC spot, CFD, perpetual and futures products can use different quantity units, price increments, currencies, margin rules and order grids. Verify every field and product availability on the intended venue or server.

How Bitcoin pip and tick value is calculated

Full-price-unit value per lot = broker contract size per lot
Entered pip or tick value per lot = price increment × contract size per lot
Position increment value = price increment × contract size × lots × quote-to-account rate
Entered movement value = Bitcoin price movement × contract size × lots × quote-to-account rate

MetaTrader exposes trade contract size, tick size, tick value, profit currency and volume rules as properties of the exact server symbol. BTCUSD or Bitcoin is a label, not proof of how much BTC one lot or contract represents.

FXCM currently documents 100 of its BTC contracts as one bitcoin and a USD 1.00 price movement as one point. IG’s MT4 specification documents one Bitcoin contract as one BTC and a USD 1 full-point value. The difference is primary-source evidence that a remembered Bitcoin lot size cannot be transferred between providers.

Contract size converts a Bitcoin price change into quote-currency money. Lots scale that contract, and the entered conversion rate translates quote currency into account currency. All three inputs remain visible so a fractional contract, full-BTC contract or non-USD account does not create a hidden magnitude error.

A careful Bitcoin pip-value workflow

  1. Confirm that the crypto-linked derivative is available for the intended jurisdiction, entity and client classification.
  2. Open the exact BTCUSD or Bitcoin server-symbol specification and record trade contract size.
  3. Identify what the platform calls one pip, point or minimum tick instead of assuming USD 1.
  4. Enter the intended broker lots or contracts without substituting a spot-BTC amount.
  5. Enter account-currency units per one quote-currency unit when the currencies differ.
  6. Compare the result with the order preview or a confirmed statement before reusing the specification.

Audited worked example

The audited example uses an entered USD 1 Bitcoin increment, contract size 0.01 BTC per lot, 10 lots, a USD 250 price movement and USD-to-USD conversion 1. One entered pip, point or tick is worth USD 0.10 for the position. The movement contains 250 increments and has an entered value of USD 25.00.

How to interpret it

USD 0.10 is correct only for the entered 0.01 BTC contract and 10-lot position. A broker using one BTC per lot would produce a result one hundred times larger at the same volume. USD 25.00 is scenario arithmetic, not expected profit or proof that the trade is available.

Bitcoin CFDs, spot bitcoin and bitcoin futures do not share one automatic trading unit

BTCUSD and Bitcoin can label different products. A bitcoin CFD is an over-the-counter broker contract sized with the broker’s own lot or contract definition. Spot bitcoin represents an entered amount of the asset on an exchange or wallet. Bitcoin futures use an exchange-defined multiplier and tick. A related underlying price does not make these units interchangeable.

FXCM currently documents 100 of its BTC contracts as one bitcoin, while IG’s MT4 specification documents one Bitcoin contract as one BTC. This difference is why the calculator keeps contract size and price increment editable. Neither provider’s convention is a universal preset.

Assumptions and limits

  • No live, delayed, closing or forecast Bitcoin price is retrieved.
  • The entered symbol, contract size, increment, currency and volume are not broker-verified.
  • The page does not determine whether a crypto derivative is legal or available for the user.
  • Spread, commission, financing, slippage, liquidation and tax are excluded.
  • One provider’s pip, point or contract convention is not a universal BTCUSD standard.
  • Movement value is deterministic arithmetic, not a forecast, signal or recommendation.

Where to verify Bitcoin inputs and availability

Open the exact BTC spot or derivative specification. Confirm quantity or contract units, price increment, settlement currency, minimum, maximum and step, calculation mode, trading hours, fees, funding and client permissions. A platform or venue supplies its current product values; the page does not infer them from the symbol label.

Confirm that the product and client classification are legally available in the relevant jurisdiction. The FCA prohibition on firms selling, distributing or marketing cryptoasset derivatives to UK retail clients remains in force. This page does not determine residency, professional status, broker permissions or regulatory eligibility.

Leveraged CFDs can produce rapid losses. Protection, availability and contract terms depend on jurisdiction, entity and client classification; the calculator does not determine which rules apply to a user.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. FXCM documents 100 of its BTC contracts as one bitcoin, while IG documents one BTC per MT4 contract. Verify the exact server symbol.
  • Only as manual price-movement arithmetic after entering the actual BTC amount as contract size and setting the volume convention deliberately. It does not connect to an exchange or wallet.
  • No. It values only an entered increment and optional movement. It retrieves no live, delayed, closing or forecast BTCUSD price.
  • A Bitcoin-linked product can settle in a symbol profit currency that differs from the account currency. The conversion rate remains an explicit input.
  • No. This page isolates price-movement value. Spread, commission, funding, slippage, liquidation and tax remain separate.
  • FCA rules prohibit firms from selling, distributing or marketing cryptoasset derivatives to UK retail clients. Availability elsewhere depends on jurisdiction, entity and classification.
