How Ease of Movement is calculated
Box ratio = (current volume ÷ divisor) ÷ current high-low range
Raw EOM = distance moved ÷ box ratio
Smoothed EOM = N-period SMA of raw EOM
Version 1.0.0 calculates the equivalent finite form distance × range × divisor ÷ volume. A flat high-low range therefore contributes zero without dividing by zero.
Raw EOM begins on the second entered row. The first N-period simple average is reportable at zero-based index N. The divisor is explicit because it changes the display scale.
Assumptions and limits
- Length must be an integer from 1 to 200 and divisor must be positive.
- At least length plus one ordered bars with positive volume are required.
- Rows must use one symbol, timeframe, broker feed and consistent volume type.
- Spot-forex tick volume counts price changes rather than centralized executed volume.
- Sign, magnitude, ease, strength, confirmation, zero-line and trading interpretations are withheld.

How to interpret the result
The entered volume and divisor determine the output scale, so this number is not comparable across feeds without matching both. It describes the latest smoothed distance-range-volume arithmetic and is not an ease-of-movement trade signal.

- Enter a length, positive divisor and at least length plus one ordered high-low-volume bars from one consistent source.
- The previous high-low midpoint is subtracted from the current high-low midpoint.
- Current volume divided by the explicit divisor is then divided by the current high-low range.
- Distance moved is divided by the box ratio, equivalently distance × range × divisor ÷ volume.
- It is the N-period simple average of raw EOM values beginning with the second entered row.
- The equivalent finite formula returns a zero raw contribution for that flat-range bar.
