Cardano Position Size Calculator

Calculate a Cardano position quantity from an entered monetary loss budget, ADA price distance, quantity-unit convention, costs, conversion and permitted order grid.

Fixed or percentage budgetRounds down on entered gridNo size recommendation

Enter the Cardano risk scenario

Use a positive ADA price distance between planned entry and stop. The result models that distance; it does not promise a fill, verify collateral or determine whether a product is available.

Entered

Above 0% and no more than 100%; no suitability label.

For example, the entered number is a price distance in quote currency; it is not a stop-fill guarantee.

Enter ADA or product contract units per entered quantity unit. Verify the exact venue or server product.

Account-currency units per 1 quote-currency unit; no live FX rate is fetched.

The browser performs deterministic arithmetic only. It does not contact a broker, exchange, price feed, trading account, margin service or order ticket.

Specification boundary: ADA spot, CFD, perpetual and futures products can use different quantity units, price increments, currencies, margin rules and order grids. Verify every field and product availability on the intended venue or server.

How Cardano position size is calculated

Loss budget = account balance × entered percentage, or fixed entered amount
Value per full ADA price unit = ADA per quantity unit × quote-to-account rate
Modeled loss per quantity unit = stop price distance × value per full price unit + entered cost per quantity unit
Raw quantity = loss budget ÷ modeled loss per quantity unit
Shown quantity = raw quantity rounded down on the entered minimum, step and maximum grid

The stop input is an absolute ADA price distance, not a forecast, percentage change or assumed tick count. One entered quantity unit can equal one ADA only when the exact spot or derivative product uses that convention.

A nonnegative round-trip cost per quantity unit is included before raw capacity is calculated. It can hold a documented combined scenario cost, but it does not independently fetch fees, spread, funding or slippage.

Raw quantity is rounded down from the entered minimum in entered step increments and limited by the entered maximum. A below-minimum result remains zero rather than increasing the loss budget.

A careful Cardano position-size workflow

  1. Identify whether the intended exposure is spot ADA, a broker CFD, a perpetual contract or a dated future.
  2. Copy the exact ADA or contract unit, quote currency, minimum order, quantity step and maximum from the intended product.
  3. Choose a documented fixed loss budget or derive one from an entered balance and percentage.
  4. Measure the absolute ADA price distance between the planned entry and stop.
  5. Add a defensible account-currency cost per entered quantity unit, or leave zero visibly intentional.
  6. Review stop loss, collateral, liquidation and total crypto exposure as separate constraints.

Audited worked example

The audited example uses a USD 5,000 balance, 1% loss budget, USD 0.05 ADA stop distance, 1 ADA per entered quantity unit, USD-to-USD conversion 1 and zero entered cost. The USD 50 budget produces 1,000 raw quantity units and 1,000 units on an entered whole-unit grid.

How to interpret it

The 1,000-unit result belongs only to the entered one-ADA unit, zero-cost assumption and whole-unit grid. It is not a recommended percentage, executable order, collateral decision or guarantee that a stop will limit loss to USD 50.

Spot ADA, Cardano CFDs and ADA futures do not share one automatic trading unit

ADA/USD and ADAUSDT can label spot assets, broker CFDs, perpetual contracts or dated futures. A spot order can use ADA quantity, while derivatives can use broker lots or exchange-defined contracts. A related Cardano price does not make those units interchangeable.

Coinbase Derivatives’ March 14, 2025 CFTC self-certification specified 1,000 ADA per contract and a USD 0.0001 minimum increment, while CME publishes 100,000-ADA and 10,000-ADA contracts for its separate Cardano futures family. Those examples demonstrate product-specific terms; neither is a preset for a spot order, CFD or perpetual.

Assumptions and limits

  • The entered percentage is not assessed for suitability.
  • ADA volatility, market gaps and spread changes can move a fill away from a stop trigger.
  • Quantity units, conversion, order rules and product permissions are not venue-connected.
  • The cost field does not separately model fees, spread, funding or slippage.
  • Collateral, liquidation, staking, custody and portfolio concentration are outside this model.
  • The output is planning arithmetic, not an order instruction or financial advice.

Where to verify Cardano inputs and availability

Open the exact ADA spot or derivative specification. Confirm quantity or contract units, price increment, settlement currency, minimum, maximum and step, calculation mode, trading hours, fees, funding and client permissions. A platform or venue supplies its current product values; the page does not infer them from the symbol label.

Confirm that the product and client classification are legally available in the relevant jurisdiction. The FCA prohibition on firms selling, distributing or marketing cryptoasset derivatives to UK retail clients remains in force. This page does not determine residency, professional status, broker permissions or regulatory eligibility.

Leveraged CFDs can produce rapid losses. Protection, availability and contract terms depend on jurisdiction, entity and client classification; the calculator does not determine which rules apply to a user.

Frequently asked questions

  • Divide the entered monetary loss budget by ADA stop distance times account-currency value per entered quantity unit plus entered cost per unit.
  • Yes only when the exact spot or derivative product maps one entered quantity unit to one ADA. Otherwise replace the editable multiplier with the documented product unit.
  • Enter the absolute Cardano price difference between planned entry and stop in the quote currency used by the scenario.
  • Raw quantity is rounded down from the entered minimum in entered step increments and capped at the entered maximum. A below-minimum result remains zero.
  • No. Percentage and fixed modes are user-controlled arithmetic inputs; the page does not assess suitability.
  • Yes. Gaps, spread, slippage, fees, funding and failed stop execution can make actual loss larger.
  • No. Stop-based sizing, collateral and liquidation are separate constraints that can use different product rules.
  • Verify product type, ADA or contract unit, quote currency, minimum order, step, maximum, costs and availability for the exact venue and account.
