Applied price is fixed to close. Keep one symbol, timeframe, feed and volume type throughout.

One row per line. Commas, semicolons or tabs are accepted. Volume may be zero but cannot be negative.

Force Index boundary: The current row volume multiplies the change from the prior moving average. The sign and magnitude are reported without a bull, bear, trend or trade classification.

How Force Index is calculated

Force Index = current volume × (current moving average − prior moving average)

Version 1.0.0 fixes applied price to close and supports the four official methods: simple, exponential, smoothed and linear weighted. Each method uses the published MetaQuotes seed and warm-up arithmetic.

The first reportable Force Index is at zero-based index N, so period N needs N plus one ordered observations. A zero current volume produces zero Force even when the moving average changes.

Assumptions and limits

  • At least period plus one ordered close-volume rows are required.
  • Applied price is close; open, high, low and composite-price variants are not separate routes.
  • Rows must use one symbol, timeframe, broker feed and consistent volume type.
  • Spot-forex tick volume is a price-change count, not centralized executed volume.
  • Positive or negative Force is not classified as strength, trend, a zero-line signal or a recommendation.

Worked example from the audited fixture

Reproduce it with “Load audited example”The seven-row fixture selects a three-period simple moving average. The current and previous averages are 14.333333 and 13.666667, so the average change is 0.666667. Multiplying by current volume 140 gives Force Index 93.333333.

How to interpret the result

This result uses the selected average’s change, not the raw close change. Selecting EMA, SMMA or LWMA changes the smoothed path and the output. Volume is an entered feed quantity, so 93.333333 has no cross-broker or cash-value meaning.

Frequently asked questions

  • Enter a period, moving-average method and at least period plus one ordered close-volume rows from one consistent feed.
  • Current entered volume is multiplied by the difference between the current and prior moving-average values.
  • Version 1.0.0 supports the four published MetaQuotes methods: SMA, EMA, SMMA and LWMA.
  • This route fixes applied price to the entered close so the input and formula basis remain explicit.
  • The first reported Force value at index N needs both the current moving average and the prior one.
  • The reported Force Index is zero because the moving-average change is multiplied by zero.
  • Not necessarily. Feed, volume type, applied-price choice, history and startup conventions can change platform values.
  • No. The page reports arithmetic without bull, bear, strength, trend, zero-line, entry or exit labels.
