FBS India: Residence Restriction and RBI Forex Guidance

FBS’s global disclosure excludes Indian residents. Read the RBI forex guidance and learn how to organise assistance for an existing account.

Check local eligibility and official notices
FBS India editorial guide cover

FBS’s current global disclosure lists India among the residences it does not serve. Indian residents should not use this site as an account-opening or deposit route. The RBI also requires permitted forex activity to use authorised persons and platforms under the applicable rules. A foreign licence, an INR payment link or a bonus advertisement does not remove those requirements.

This guide explains the provider’s residence restriction, the relevant RBI guidance and a practical evidence route for an existing account. It does not offer a workaround. The main FBS review describes the global service for its documented scope, not universal availability.

India is explicitly named in the provider’s exclusion

The current FBS corporate disclosure identifies FBS Markets Inc in Belize and includes India in a non-exhaustive list of restricted residences. This is a concrete provider statement, not an inference from whether a page loads or a country dropdown appears.

Do not select another country or use another person’s address to obtain an account. Nationality and residence are different facts, but a change in residence must be genuine and documented. An Indian citizen living elsewhere would still need the actual resident rules, contracting entity and provider eligibility checked for that situation.

Read the RBI’s authorised-person and platform rules

The RBI’s forex-transactions FAQ, dated 28 August 2024 in the version reviewed, explains that residents may undertake forex transactions only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes. It also describes the requirements for electronic platforms and states that overseas margin remittances are not permitted under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme.

The RBI alert list dated 22 October 2024 includes FBS and fbs.com. That dated record is relevant evidence, not a claim that this page has exhaustively reconstructed every later regulatory update. The RBI explains that its alert list is non-exhaustive: absence from it should not be interpreted as authorisation.

For a current transaction decision, consult the RBI’s authorised-person and authorised-platform records and an appropriate authorised bank. This review has not established any later approval overcoming the provider’s explicit Indian-resident exclusion.

An INR collection account is not an exemption

The RBI’s 24 April 2024 circular on unauthorised forex transactions describes local agents and domestic rupee payment channels being used to collect money for unauthorised activity. It is therefore unsafe to assume that a transaction becomes permitted merely because the first recipient is in India.

This guide does not verify UPI, an Indian bank or another payment method for FBS. Do not change a payment description, split a transfer or pay through someone else to bypass a restriction. A provider or bank refusing a route is a reason to clarify the rules, not to seek a different intermediary.

If money has already been sent, keep the INR debit and the amount credited in the account currency. For example, INR 8,500 debited and USD 100 credited implies INR 85 per dollar before separate fees. This is an illustrative reconciliation calculation, not a live exchange rate or a suggested transaction.

An India bonus claim conflicts with the starting restriction

Do not treat a social post promising an FBS India bonus as an account-eligibility decision. The bonus guide explains documented deposit credit and historical promotions, but those global terms do not override a residence exclusion or the applicable Indian rules.

A no-deposit label is not sufficient either. It can still require an account relationship, verification and later financial activity. This review does not establish an Indian-resident offer, and it does not recommend opening an account to find out.

For an existing account with promotional credit, ask the provider to distinguish your paid-in funds from credit and explain the effect of closure or withdrawal. Do not make an extra payment to preserve a bonus while the residence issue remains unresolved.

If you already have an FBS account

  1. Save the agreement and the account’s current legal-company details.
  2. Keep original receipts, transaction references and the communications through which the account was offered.
  3. Tell official support your actual residence and ask about the account’s status and the documented return process for existing funds.
  4. For a sign-in issue, use the login guide to distinguish the profile from the trading account, without changing residence information.
  5. Consult an authorised bank or qualified local adviser about the existing transaction and any appropriate reporting steps.

The customer-support guide explains how to prepare a clear request. The withdrawal troubleshooting guide helps classify a rejected or delayed request; it is not a verified Indian payout route or a guarantee that money will be recovered.

Do not give a recovery agent your bank password, trading password or one-time code. Keep evidence privately and verify any proposed assistance through an independent official route.

Keep education separate from an account invitation

You can read explanations of margin, position sizing and trading-platform mechanics without treating them as permission to open an offshore account. The leverage guide explains why lower margin does not mean lower risk. It is educational material, not a recommendation that an Indian resident use FBS.

The country directory links guidance for different residences. Do not assume that a neighbouring country’s page, an English-language interface or a friend’s account changes your own eligibility. Start with truthful residence information and the relevant official rules.

Common questions

Does FBS accept residents of India?

Its current global corporate disclosure lists India among restricted residences. This guide does not provide an onboarding route for Indian residents.

Is FBS named on an RBI alert list?

The official list dated 22 October 2024 reviewed for this guide names FBS and fbs.com. Consult current RBI records; a dated list is not a complete history of later changes.

Can I use UPI or an INR payment agent instead?

A domestic payment route does not establish permission. The RBI has specifically warned about domestic collections for unauthorised forex activity; this guide does not recommend a workaround.

Can an Indian citizen living overseas use FBS?

Citizenship alone does not settle residence-based eligibility. The genuine residence, applicable local rules, contracting entity and provider decision must all be checked.

What should an existing Indian-resident customer do?

Preserve original records, disclose the actual residence to official support and seek appropriate local banking or professional guidance about existing funds. Do not send extra money to an unverified recovery service.
