Accumulation/Distribution Calculator
Calculate a cumulative A/D line from each entered close location inside its high-low range and one consistent volume measure.
Enter ordered high-low-close-volume bars
Use one symbol, timeframe, broker feed and volume type throughout.
One row per line. Commas, semicolons or tabs are accepted. Volume may be zero but cannot be negative.

How Accumulation/Distribution is calculated
Contribution = multiplier × volume
A/D = prior A/D + contribution
The multiplier is positive when the close is above the bar midpoint, negative below the midpoint and zero at the midpoint. The contribution is added to a running total starting from zero.
When high equals low, Version 1.0.0 follows the published MetaQuotes source and assigns a zero multiplier and zero contribution rather than dividing by zero.
Assumptions and limits
- Rows must be oldest to newest and use one consistent symbol, timeframe, feed and volume type.
- Spot-forex tick volume is a count of price changes rather than centralized exchange turnover.
- A flat high-low bar contributes zero regardless of its entered volume.
- The cumulative level depends on the entered starting point and available history.
- Positive or negative contributions are not classified as accumulation, distribution, divergence or trade signals.

How to interpret the result
The negative contribution reflects the close’s location inside only the final entered bar. The cumulative A/D level also depends on every preceding contribution and the zero seed. It is not a cash flow, accumulation label or signal.
Frequently asked questions
- Enter at least two ordered high-low-close-volume bars from one consistent symbol, timeframe, feed and volume type.
- The distance from close to low minus the distance from high to close is divided by the high-low range.
- The money-flow multiplier is multiplied by the entered volume.
- Each signed contribution is added to a running total that starts from zero.
- Version 1.0.0 follows the published MetaQuotes source and assigns a zero multiplier and contribution.
- It commonly means tick volume, a count of price changes rather than centralized traded volume.
- Not necessarily. Feed, volume type, entered history and starting point can change the absolute cumulative level.
- No. The page reports arithmetic only and does not classify buying, selling, divergence, entries or exits.
