Enter an EMA period and ordered bars

Use completed bars from one symbol, timeframe and broker feed.

Entered

One completed bar per line. Commas, semicolons or tabs are accepted. Close must be inside the high-low range.

Bears Power boundary: The page subtracts a close-price EMA from each entered low. It reports arithmetic without concluding that sellers are strong, weak or in control.

How Bears Power is calculated

EMA[0] = first entered close
EMA[i] = close[i] × 2 ÷ (N + 1) + EMA[i − 1] × [1 − 2 ÷ (N + 1)]
Bears Power[i] = low[i] − EMA[i]

Version 1.0.0 follows the published MetaQuotes first-close EMA seed and smoothing factor. The EMA is based on entered close prices, while the current low supplies the reported difference.

The first reportable value begins at zero-based index N, matching the published source calculation start. A period of N therefore requires N plus one completed bars.

Assumptions and limits

  • At least period plus one ordered high-low-close bars are required.
  • Rows must be oldest to newest and use one symbol, timeframe and feed.
  • The entered history and starting point affect the EMA and may differ from a platform buffer.
  • Positive and negative values are displayed neutrally without a zero-line interpretation.
  • The page emits no strength, trend, reversal, divergence, entry or exit label.

Worked example from the audited fixture

Reproduce it with “Load audited example”The same seven-bar fixture uses EMA period 3. The final close-seeded EMA is 10.953125 and the final low is 9.000000, so Bears Power = 9.000000 − 10.953125 = −1.953125.

How to interpret the result

The negative value is the latest entered low minus the declared EMA. It is not a measured seller count or a forecast, and its sign does not create a short entry. EMA seed and available history can alter the result.

Frequently asked questions

  • Enter an EMA period and at least period plus one ordered high-low-close bars from one symbol, timeframe and feed.
  • The first-value-seeded exponential moving average of entered closes is subtracted from the current entered low.
  • The first entered close seeds the EMA, followed by smoothing factor two divided by period plus one.
  • The published source begins its reported Power calculation at zero-based index N, so period N requires N plus one entered bars.
  • The EMA uses entered closes, while the final Bears Power subtraction uses the current entered low.
  • Not necessarily. Feed history, the entered starting point, symbol and timeframe can change the EMA buffer.
  • No. The page reports signed arithmetic without a seller-strength, trend, reversal or trade classification.
  • Both use the same close EMA; Bears subtracts it from low, while Bulls subtracts it from high.
