RoboForex Demo Account: Setup and Practical Testing

Open a RoboForex demo through Members Area, choose the platform you intend to use and practise realistic order handling. Demo funds are simulated; a useful test checks sizing, costs and mistakes rather than treating an attractive demo result as a live-performance promise.

Broker links are affiliate links; we may earn a commission if you use them. Forex and CFD trading carries a significant risk of loss.

A demo is most useful when it answers a specific question. “Can I enter and close the intended order correctly?” is testable. “Will this strategy make money?” requires much more than a few successful simulated trades. Use demo to expose mistakes before real capital is involved.

Open the demo through Members Area

RoboForex’s 27 June 2025 demo-support notice states that supported demos must be opened through Members Area. Trading on terminal-created demo accounts became close-only on 7 July 2025, and their positions were scheduled to close on 27 July. Follow the current Members Area route instead of relying on an old terminal wizard tutorial.

  1. Use the correct profile. Follow the sign-in steps in our login guide, or follow the registration guide if you do not yet have a profile.
  2. Select the intended platform. Choose the demo type offered for MT4, MT5 or R StocksTrader that matches your planned work.
  3. Read the account details. Record platform, server, account identifier, currency and simulated balance. A real and demo account should be clearly labelled.
  4. Connect through the matching terminal. Use the provider’s platform page and the server supplied for the demo, not the first similarly named result.
  5. Verify demo status before placing an order. Check the connected account inside the platform rather than trusting the application shortcut.

Our MT4, MT5 and R StocksTrader guides cover those different interfaces. A working demo in one does not confirm that a custom program or order workflow works in another.

Choose realistic practice conditions

If the interface offers configurable balance and leverage, use settings that resemble the capital and exposure you actually intend to consider. An enormous simulated balance can hide a sizing mistake that would immediately overwhelm a small real account.

Separate account balance from planned loss per trade. As an illustration, 1% of a USD 1,000 practice balance is USD 10. That amount is a budgeting input, not a command to use the largest volume the margin system permits. Costs and slippage must be considered separately, and a stop loss cannot guarantee the exact maximum loss during a gap.

Read the margin guide before interpreting the required margin as money at risk. For cent accounts, use the ProCent unit explanation so that displayed cents are not accidentally treated as dollars.

Run five small operational exercises

ExerciseWhat to record
Open and close a market orderSymbol, direction, volume, displayed spread and history record.
Place and cancel a pending orderEntry condition, expiry and the final cancellation state.
Modify protective levelsWhat the interface accepts or rejects and why.
Change the selected symbol or accountWhether remembered volume or ticket settings change.
Reconnect or restartWhich account returns, which settings persist and what the journal reports.

Use deliberately small simulated positions while learning the controls. The purpose is to observe the mechanics without letting a large floating profit distract you from an error. Check that a closed position really appears in history and that a cancelled pending order cannot trigger later.

Record a failed or rejected instruction as well as a successful one. An invalid volume or closed-session message teaches you where the contract rules are enforced. Do not repeatedly click an order button when the outcome of the first click is unclear.

Make costs visible in the practice record

Use the fees and spreads guide to identify the relevant commission basis and holding costs. Note which costs the demo displays and which remain uncertain. Do not silently treat a missing demo charge as a zero live charge.

Compare the intended symbol and account type with the live product specification. A simulated quote or fill is not an independent measurement of live liquidity, slippage or withdrawal reliability. Keep the demo journal labelled as simulation when sharing a screenshot or result.

Test automated behaviour separately

Before enabling an EA, review its platform, symbol, volume logic and permissions. Test how it behaves after a restart and how it identifies its own positions. A program that opens a correct first trade can still mishandle a reconnection or a second account.

Historical testing and forward demo observation answer different questions. Keep a record of the settings used for each, avoid selecting only profitable periods and inspect drawdown and error logs. If using hosting, read the VPS guide before migrating a program that can place orders.

If the demo expires or cannot reconnect

Check the current account status in Members Area and any notice supplied for that demo. An old 2012 announcement described a 90-day lifespan, but this guide does not convert that historical notice into a universal current rule for all demo products. Ask the provider which expiry or inactivity conditions apply to the account you created.

Save the practice log before replacing an expired demo. The useful output is what you learned about the workflow, including errors and unresolved differences, rather than preserving a simulated balance as if it were withdrawable money.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I open a RoboForex demo?

Use Members Area. The provider’s June 2025 notice limits supported demo accounts to those created through that route. Choose the intended platform, record its server and account details, and verify the connected account is marked as demo before practising.

Can I withdraw demo profits?

No. Demo balances and results are simulated; they are not withdrawable cash. Use them to practise orders, sizing and record keeping. A successful simulated result does not demonstrate a funded account's execution or payment behaviour.

Does demo execution prove the live account will behave the same?

No. Use demo for platform and process practice, while keeping live costs, liquidity, slippage and payment behaviour as separate questions. Record what the exercise actually showed, such as correct contract sizing, instead of presenting it as live-performance evidence.

What balance should I practise with?

Where the interface permits a choice, use a realistic balance and leverage for your intended situation. A very large simulated balance can hide risk and sizing errors. Test the cash loss and margin of the intended size rather than maximising simulated buying power.

Do all RoboForex demos expire after 90 days?

Do not assume a universal current lifetime from an old announcement. Check the conditions and status supplied for the specific demo in Members Area. Save those details with the account record and confirm its current availability before relying on it for a planned test.

Sources and scope

Checked 15 September 2026. RoboForex Ltd public instructions and the platform documentation below inform this guide. Public pages and blank forms were reviewed; we did not open or fund an account, upload identity documents, place an order or test a withdrawal. Source conditions and the account-specific screen take priority where availability differs.
